FAQ - Tailgating

Q: How do you select a  tailgating grill?

A: Here's a short check list from the Commissioner to help you select your next tailgating grill...

How many people are you cooking for?
Are you looking for a gas or charcoal grill?
If charcoal, can the grates be adjusted at different levels?
If gas, how many burners are there? Are they front back or side to side?
Will this be a Tailgating grill or your primary home grill to also take on the road?
How much do you want to spend?
How much does it weigh? Can one person handle it?

Tip:  Walk around the parking lots and ask Tailgaters what they think of their grills.

Q: Where is the best place to tailgate?

A:  Tailgating is the art of parting with your vehicle.  So you can tailgate just about anywhere you can you can setup a grill, eat and drink. Many  hard core tailgating start at the house and work their way to the race track or staduim.  It's a tradition which should be passed on from  family to family.  It's great for all  ages.

Q: How do you use the gas powered blenders?

A: The gas powered blender is the heart of the  hard core tailgating arsenal.   Setup up for your favorite drinks - refer to "Recipes" , fill the  blender with some gas, add   your liquid mixture, close top, pull the cord and start the blender. Open the top and     drop in the ice  cubes and nail the thottle.   Wait for the  crowd to gather and shut down the blender and enjoy.  Remember to  share!

Q: What is tailgating?

A: Tailgating is the dangerous practice of following very close to the vehicle in front. In most circumstances a proper gap is 2 seconds long or one yard for every mph (these are two different ways of expressing the same distance). Close following or the advanced driver's "overtaking position" are about 1 second behind the vehicle in front.   Anything closer than about 1 second can reasonably be described as tailgating, although some people only use the term when the following distance is very small, perhaps under one car's length.
